Peaceful Sky Benefit

The mission of the Peaceful Sky Benefit is to advance public awareness regarding the dangers of US Air Force proposals released at Arizona Regional Air Space EIS
The Peaceful Sky Benefit is coordinated by 100% volunteers. It is a grassroots community-led event, funded by community contributions.
Net proceeds raised by the event beyond venue(s) overhead fees will benefit other projects or organizations advancing protection or public awareness in response to the dangers of the US Air Force proposals in question. Projects such as public art, community-listening work, peaceful opposition, research/networking, formal resolution, legal action, and ads promoting public awareness/action are examples of potentially qualifying beneficiary activities.
Beneficiaries’ Responsibilities and Benefits
- If not already engaged in a qualifying beneficiary activity, beneficiaries must provide a receipt of their commitment to using funds acquired via the event towards furthering protection or public awareness in response to the dangers of the US Air
Force proposals in question.
- Southwest Native Nations-focused projects matching this description have precedence in becoming a beneficiary of the Peaceful Sky Benefit.
Event beneficiaries, and other public awareness projects or organizations working on related issues (such as protection of Native Lands/Sacred Sites or conservation areas from military or industrial harms, and history or current affairs of environmental and humaniarian costs of militarism) have the opportunity to table at the event(s).
In addition to merchandise table space for participating performers, the event(s) can provide support and space for tabling of up to approximately four public awareness projects or organizations, at a hosting venue.
All venue(s)’ ticket proceeds beyond venue(s)’ overhead costs, will be split evenly between event beneficiary projects/organizations, and paid promptly/directly from the venue(s) to the beneficiaries. No proceeds shall be paid to event coordinators, or to any entity other than qualifying event beneficiaries.
The Peaceful Sky Benefit may supply free materials to public awareness projects/organizations tabling at the event(s), for use as thank you gifts for donations. Peaceful Sky Benefit may supply thank you gifts to volunteer performers particpating in the event(s).
The Peaceful Sky Benefit GoFundMe campaign is established to collect contributions expressly to provide sponsorship stipends to participating artists traveling from outside Tucson, offset overhead, or be added to any net proceeds for donation to beneficiaries. Southwest Native Nations artists have precedence in the allocation of sponsorships.
Sponsorship stipends for participants will be based on artists’ level of resource limitation, total mileage traveled/mode of travel (up to $.20/automobile mile), number of meals needed (up to $60/day, two day maximum), and required lodging (up to $150/night, two night maximum). Sponsorship stipends shall not exceed $500 per participant.
If the event GoFundMe crowdfunding surpasses the need for participants stipends, funds may be used towards event overhead, including materials to produce items distributed freely for the benefit of projects/organizations tabling at the event. Event facilitators and volunteers will not be paid for services such as design, printing, distribrution, or any other services.
Artists who give permission to use their work to create materials for the benefit of projects/organizations tabling at the event, or to thank volunteer performers participating in the event(s); will not be paid, but can receive a limited number of the printed materials created for this purpose, as a thank you gift.
Crowdfunded expenses, and disbursement of event ticket sales proceeds, will be clearly and transparently disclosed online. To be specific, following the Peaceful Sky Benefit, event funds ledgers will be made available for public review at the the event website, and at the Peaceful Sky Benefit GoFundMe platform.
The Peaceful Sky Benefit GoFundMe is linked to a new, otherwise unused, checking account, established expressly for the event.
Community Support and Official Sponsorship
Individuals, groups, or companies that contribute at least $100.00 to the event GoFundMe may be named, thanked, and linked in promotional posts and materials for providing community support, if mutually agreed upon with the event organizers.
501c3 organizations or community projects need not contribute to the event GoFundMe to be named, thanked, or linked in promotional posts and materials for providing community support, if mutually agreed upon with the event organizers.
Individuals, groups, or companies that contribute at least $500.00 to the event GoFundMe may be named, thanked, and linked as an Official Sponsor in promotional posts and materials, if mutually agreed upon with the event organizers.
